1. What is OHIC?

Answer: OHIC is a six months online curricular certification course assisting the professionals in learning the basic concepts of Health informatics and core concepts of Healthcare based specialized IT functions. This Course has been designed by Bioinformatics Centre at Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences to meet the need of Healthcare Professionals and Paramedical Personnel.

2. What is the duration of course?

Answer: There are four batches in a year starting on January 1st, April 1st, July 1st & October 1st each of 6 month duration.

3. What is the eligibility for this course?

Answer: Any Healthcare Professionals and Paramedical Personnel with Bachelors degree qualification.

4. What is the course fee?

Answer: The Course Registration Fee is Rs. 6000 only for Indian students and $200 for International Students, to be paid by Demand Draft in the name of 'BIC Project’, payable at Sevagram / Wardha.

5. What is the process of application?

Answer: Interested candidates can register online. Alternatively registration form can be downloaded, filled up and sent.

6. Where to send the filled application form along with the draft for required fee?

Answer: Candidates are required to send the Registration Fees and hard copies of graduate certificate to Bioinformatics Centre, JBTDRC, MGIMS, Sevagram (Wardha) - 442102, Maharashtra, India before before 15th of December, 15th of March, 15th of June or 15th of September for January, April, July, October sessions respectively.

7. Why online learning?

Answer: Online learning is ideal for working professionals because it provides the opportunity to study when it is convenient for you. The flexibility this program offers makes it possible for even the busiest individuals to get familiarize with Health Informatics and obtain certificate.

8. Since this is an online program, how often do students receive the learning materials and assignments?

Answer: After registration unique user id and password will be sent to each student by email. Online material will be accessible to the registered candidates after login. During the training programme, assignments are given to each student at the end of each month. Each student is provided a web folder for posting their assignment material with in stipulated time.

9. How do you assess the student’s performance? Any exams, how often would they be? What would be the prerequisites before a student finally receive a certificate?

Answer: At the end of the course final evaluation is done based on assignments and final examination. On successful completion of the Course, a certificate is issued to this effect.

10. What will happen if the student won't be able to finish the 6-month course (in time)? Would you allow extension?

Answer: We encourage candidates to complete the course in stipulated time. However, extension may be permitted subject to genuine case where extension may be given for rejoining new batch by paying the requisite fee.

11. How many hours per week will one need to study?

Answer: On an average, one can spend about 10 hours per week studying to ensure completion of the course. However, this can vary greatly, depending on your personal and professional circumstances.

12. What are the computer requirements for participation in the program?

Answer: To participate in the Online Health Informatics Certification course, you will need a computer system with internet connection.

13. What is the importance of this course?

Answer: Basic foundation course content gives a strong platform to all healthcare personnel for further study. After successful completion of the course, students become experts in data and information management techniques used in healthcare..
